Horticulture

Our designs have a strong focus on plants and the use of natural materials.   We  are especially passionate about planting design, and the importance of the creative use of plants to create beautiful and vibrant outdoor spaces which are also functional and manageable.

Our designs embrace the use of a wide diversity of plant species, many of which are unusual in cultivation.    Our contacts with a range of nurseries and plant suppliers allow us source these unusual plants, and we have a hands on approach to plant sourcing and site setout in order to achieve the best result possible.   This approach allows us to find creative solutions to planting problems and produce manageable landscapes with variety and character.

Examples of planting design work produced by our practice, either directly or through Andrew Laidlaw's work at the Melbourne Botanic Gardens, include:
  • The Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden
  • Guilfoyle's Volcano
  • The Species Rose Garden
  • Melbourne Zoo Main Drive
  • Sale Botanic Gardens - Planting Design for the River Walk and Entrance
  • Diggers Club St Erth site - Bush Garden Planting
  • Observant Offices - North Fitzroy
  • Residential Gardens as shown in our Photo Gallery
